Animal Art | Wings Against Midnight
24''x32''/61x81CM / Rolled Canvas
$360.00 USD
Wings Against Midnight sets one luminous butterfly against an almost-black field. Its body sits off-center to the left, with slender antennae and broad white wings reaching toward the upper right.
Fine ridges follow the fan-like structure of the wings, while scattered pale flecks soften their edges. Large dark marks remain visible behind the butterfly, lending the vertical composition a strong contrast between delicate anatomy and bold surrounding shapes.

Simple lines. A sense of balance.

About the Artist
Adrian Xu often begins with a line and the space on either side of it. He works mainly in black, white, and restrained neutral tones, adjusting the width of a mark or the distance between shapes until the composition settles. Brush edges and slight irregularities remain part of the finished surface. His paintings suit a close look, where a small shift can change the balance of the whole.
