Western Heritage Art | The Agave Descent

Proportions are an illustration. Confirm the listed width × height before ordering.

The Agave Descent catches a horse and rider negotiating a steep orange slope. The brown-and-white horse angles downward through the rock, with small pointed agaves marking the route and a distant canyon opening beyond.

A broad sage sky gives the precarious diagonal room to register. The sharp contrast between open air and warm cliff faces makes the scene an energetic Western accent for a study or entrance.

About the Artist

Meet Rafael Soria

Rafael Soria is interested in the way a horse’s posture can give a whole scene its direction. He works with strong silhouettes, simplified riders, and broad areas of desert color. Ochre, dusty brown, and muted blue help hold the figures within an open landscape. His brushwork follows the movement of the animal, while the surrounding space gives that movement room to travel across the canvas.
