Modern Art | A Pair of Golden Guardians
24''x32''/61x81CM / Rolled Canvas
$360.00 USD
A Pair of Golden Guardians presents two feathered wings against a deep black ground. Their rounded shoulders face inward, while long tapered tips descend separately toward the lower edge of the single upright composition.
Overlapping feather shapes create many small changes of light within the gold-colored forms. The dark interval between them preserves their symmetry and gives the pair a formal presence for an entrance or a living room focal point.

About the Artist
Theo Hartwell works with contrasts in surface as much as contrasts in color. A smooth pale area might sit beside a rough dark passage, with a small gold or copper accent drawing the eye between them. He builds the composition through broad shapes and adjustments to their edges. Metallic color is used sparingly, giving the painting a point of light while leaving the surrounding texture room to show.
